mayestrotense |. V. Ampoule
Each 1 ml ampoule contains: 1 mg Propranolol HCL

Indications:
The emergency treatment of cardiac dysrhythmia and thyrotoxic crisis.

Dosage:
    Adults  1 ml over 1 minute and can be repeated at 2 minutes intervals until a response.
Conscious patients, maximum dose 10 mg. patients under anesthesia, maximum dose 5 mg.

    Elderly  start with the lowest dose with caution, the optimum dose determined by clinical response.
    Children  0.025 to 0.05 mg/kg I.V. slowly under ECG control.

Contraindications:
History of Bronchial asthma or Bronchospasm.
Hypersensitivity to Propranolol.
In patients prone to hypoglycemia.


Drug Interactions:
Neither the beta-blocker nor the calcium channel blocker should be administered I.V. within 48 hours of discontinuing the other.
    Pregnancy  should not be given during pregnancy unless its use is essential.
    Lactation  Breast feeding is not recommended.

Side effects:
Bradycardia, Postural hypotension, Dizziness, Hypoglycemia and Gastrointestinal disturbance.
Cessation of therapy must be gradually.
