Levophrine I.V. Ampoules

Each 4 ml ampoule contains Norepinephrine Bitartrate 8 mg
(equivalent to Norepinephrine base 4 mg).

Indications:
Blood pressure control in certain acute hypotensive states.
As an adjunct in the treatment of cardiac arrest and profound hypotension.


Dosage:
Acute hypotension
I.V. infusion, via central venous catheter, of a solution containing Norepinephrine Bitartrate 80 µg/ml (equivalent to Norepinephrine base 40 µg/ml) at an initial rate of 0.16 – 0.33 ml/minute
Cardiac arrest,
by rapid intravenous or intra-cardiac injection, 0.5–0.75 ml of a solution containing Norepinephrine Bitartrate 200 µg/ml (equivalent to Norepinephrine base 100 µg/ml).


Contraindications:
Hypertension.

Side Effect:
Hypertension, headache, Bradycardia, arrhythmias, peripheral ischemia.

Drug Interaction:
Monoamine oxidase inhibitors or tricyclic antidepressants may cause severe, prolonged hypertension.
Dopexamine may be enhanced.
Beta-blockers may cause severe hypertension.

    Pregnancy: should not be given during pregnancy unless its use is essential.
    Lactation: Breast feeding is not recommended.
