Indications:
Prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting induced by chemotherapy
Prevention and treatment of post-operative nausea and vomiting.

Dosage:
With chemotherapy
    Adult for prevention: single dose 3mg prior to the start of chemotherapy.
    Adult for treatment: (protect against delayed vomiting): a single dose 3 mg daily and two additional doses within a 24 hours at least 10 minutes apart from the initial dose may be given.

    Children for prevention: single dose of 40 μg / kg body weight (up to 3 mg) prior to the start of chemotherapy.
    Children for treatment: (protect against delayed vomiting): 40μg/kg body weight (up to 3mg) within a 24 hours period at least 10 minutes apart from the initial infusion.

Post-operative nausea and vomiting:
    Adultsfor prevention: single dose of 1 mg Granitryl prior to induction of anesthesia.
    Adultsfor the treatment: single dose of 1 mg Granitryl Maximum two doses (2 mg) in one day.
    Children: Granitryl Ampoules is not recommended for the treatment of post-operative nausea and vomiting in this age group.

Contraindications and Warnings:
Granisetron reduces lower bowel motility so signs of sub-acute intestinal obstruction should
be monitored following administration of Granitryl Ampoules.
    Pregnancy: should not be given during pregnancy unless its use is essential.
    Lactation: Breast feeding is not recommended.

Side effects: headache and constipation.

Overdose: No specific antidote for Granisetron, symptomatic treatment should be given.

Disposal and Handling:
Granitryl Ampoules should not be mixed in solution with other drugs.
Intravenous infusions of Granitryl Ampoules should be prepared at the time of administration.
Granitryl Ampoules should be protected from direct sunlight.
Granitryl infusions must be prepared under appropriate aseptic conditions.
